Dear Andy/ydnA
I can not recommend strongly enough purchasing your own copy of Heck: Where the Bad Kids Go. Even the most sanitary of libraries can become seething Petri dishes of disease. Don't your fingertips deserve a clean copy beneath them? Who knows what awful thing the previous reader did to that copy? I shudder to think. And not only do I recommend purchasing your own copy, I recommend purchasing three copies: one for saving (a collector's copy), one for reading, and one for travel. Only in this way will you ever truly know happiness.

You guys are crazy cool. Thanks for all the comments and insights into the book I wrote, like, two years ago! Your book club—the first of its kind, I believe—has made my dismal freezing rain Portland day.

A quick response to some of your comments:

1) If you like Marlo, there's more of her in the next book, Rapacia. It's mostly her, though still tons of Milton, obviously. And she is set loose upon the coolest mall in the afterlife…

2) Yes, Milton is from John Milton. Most every name in the book is a reference to something. Mainly because I can't think of names, so I have to respectfully borrow from others! Good catch on the "All Ye Who Enter…" sign. Perhaps my fave reference is when Lucky loses his dice collar, and Milton posts the note in the Cafeterium: "Milton's pair of dice lost"…get it? Milton's Paradise Lost? It's how I amuse myself when desperately trying to come up with a story of some kind.
3) Yes, Lyon and Bordeaux are both Paris Hilton clones (first name, a French city. Second name, a big hotel chain). They meet some similarly ditzy, self-absorbed friends in the third book, Blimpo.
4) I like ferrets too, as long as they don't spray me with musk. You never forget when you're musked by a ferret. Never. You don't feel so very Lucky.

Shine on you fabulous assortment of freaks!
